Marine Scotland: Fishery Summary Report for Rosehearty

Marine Scotland launched a field study supported by University St Andrews to determine the efficacy of GenusWave TAST technology in Rosehearty, Scotland.

 

Overview: The study began in 2020 and is scheduled for completion by May 1, 2021. The study is actively testing the impact of GenusWave Targeted Acoustic Startle Technology under inshore fishing vessels off the coast of Rosehearty, Scotland.

Preliminary results: Preliminary results as of January 2021 shows that TAST achieved a 96% reduction in deterring seals from under the fishing vessels, resulting in fewer seals that disperse the fish shoals and an increased catch. . The study is ongoing and scheduled for completion by April 2021.
